RELTD Ep 114

It’s time to give you another Robin 80th Episode with a very special guest former TBU contributor Mr. Clinton Robinson of the Coffee and Comics podcast (@CoffeeComicsBlg). For this episode Clinton chose to go back to the always fun Showcase issues with Showcase ’93 issues 11 and 12. This takes us back to the Knightfall era where Dick and Tim work together to solve two cases that connect to each other if you have been following along the Showcase issues from 1993. So get your coffee pot ready as we celebrate 80 years of Robin!

I said it in the episode that I have had this issue for 27 years and I had no idea that Perez did the cover. What am I stupid?! To be honest I was just picking up the books and reading them. I was not really invested just yeat on who the artist were on books like this. By this time next year (1994) I would be totally obsessed with who the artist and writers were. You could slot this in right after Detective Comics 668, although the plot line calls back to Showcase issues 5 & 6 but that's going back to May of 1993... ok needless to say it's comics and this happens when we tell you it happens.

This was my "Golden Age of Comics" I was reading comics pretty solidly since 1989, of course Batman '89 was a huge push to read. It was Knightfall that captivated me and got me to come back to the shop week after week. I was in it like I had never been before. So because of that I was trying new things and more importantly, i was gonna follow Tim Drake in comics wherever he went. So picking up issues of Showcase was so cool, I got these extra little stories with my favorite character, plus other characters that i "knew"... but did I really? This is how you fall down the rabbit home in comics, and I loved it! I'm glad Clinton picked these two books for the 80th Anniversary!

Extra bits:
Keep in mind this is a rented bike... soooo how is it Nightiwing is able to get his logo on a rented bike? What kind of pull does Wayne Enterprises have with Kawasaki?
